The 2009 SECC Campaign is officially closed. Despite a very difficult economic climate and cuts to state government, State of Arizona employees accomplished in 2009 what some thought could not be done - we pledged over 1.5 million dollars to help others! Almost 12,000 employees decided to give when it counts the most. There will be hundreds and thousands of lives impacted by this tremendous display of generosity. Thank you to all the agencies, boards and commissions that participated in the 2009 State Employees Charitable Campaign. | Dear fellow state employees, I am so grateful to be among such a generous and dedicated group of individuals. For the last two years, despite difficult economic times, you have acknowledged your blessings, sharing them with people who are less fortunate. You have reached deep within your hearts and pockets and donated over $2 million to help. That takes courage, generosity and a commitment to others, that I deeply appreciate. In these difficult times, more and more people are turning to the state’s nonprofit organizations for help. And just as the economic downturn has significantly impacted us in state government, it has also created incredible challenges for our nonprofit community. Through your generosity and participation in the State Employees Charitable Campaign, families are sheltered during our unforgiving summers, children are fed when there is no food available, and disadvantaged residents are given hope in otherwise hopeless situations. This is a critical time for Arizona. While we face historic challenges, we also have a great opportunity to begin the upward climb toward a much brighter future. We may be facing current challenges, but we will overcome them. By working together and focusing on helping others, we will make a difference and we will help nonprofits in our state, across the country and throughout the world, continue to provide the crucial range of services needed to keep so many people safe and healthy. Please accept my invitation to join our efforts by contributing to the 2009 State Employees Charitable Campaign. I would like to personally thank each and every one of you in advance for your contributions to this campaign, which makes such a difference for so many. Sincerely, | Janice K. Brewer SECC Chairman & Governor |
